the Avengers had some great performances put on screen by those involved, conjuring up some compelling scenes of pain and rage. But while the first quarter of the movie matched the speed of the story, it also had moments of sheer embarrassment pushed as serious or lighthearted content. The relationship that the bishop (Lombardi) had with his daughters was shown very well at first, not immediately introducing him to the profession of local pastor. What didn’t work was the forced example of the “modern” church with a heavy-handed Christian rock band followed by awkward and incredibly white evangelical dancing. Ignoring that moment, Bishop’s speech ended up helping them better connect with his care for his daughters and the community.

The performance in the Avengers he really pulled out parts of the movie that needed help. They could only think so much with a story billed as a revenge horror thriller, but they didn’t end up living up to that. While backstories like Jed’s (Menchaca) had something unique, albeit related to violence against women, it was compelling and it universally made sense for the audience to care about it in the end. He ended up making his actions even more shocking later on. A lot of conflicting opinions ended up coming out, which helped the movie for a bit, even if that twist didn’t make much sense overall. What could have been a really funny but compelling journey of revenge for a local pastor turned into a different movie beyond the halfway mark. the Avengers it’s an entertaining movie for intense moments of gore, but without a stable story, it can only last until it turns into bright red background noise.
