Marvel Comics artist Mike Deodato Jr. has shared a nude photo of his own to criticize how Namur looks “in the worst shape” of himself in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

In what may be the most unique form of criticism directed at the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Comics artist Mike Deodato Jr. recently his nude photo to express his disappointment at the fact that Tenoch Huerta’s portrayal of Namor the Submariner in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever “He looks worse than the 60-year-old artist who painted it.”

Here, believing that the MCU version of the character looks woefully out of shape, Deodato Jr. confirmed. On his mind via a subtle post in a side-by-side comparison between a shot of Huerta’s Namor emerging from the water on the beaches of Wakanda and a nude photo of his buttocks is slightly more specific.

“You can tell someone screwed things up when a character from a movie looks worse than the 60-year-old artist who drew it,” wrote Diodato Jr., above the photo. In the photo caption on Instagram, the artist added, “Pencil lift beats swimming anytime.”

Not Deodato Jr. He is the only veteran comic book author to take up a public issue with Namor’s upcoming appearance in the MCU where long-time Batman wizard and Bane creator Graham Nolan publicly expressed how he found himself unaffected by the character’s live-action design — albeit in a less bare way.

Taking to Twitter on July 3, Nolan criticized the design to change Namor’s mutant-slash-Atlantean wallpaper to an Aztec wallpaper.

“Namur, whose father was Scottish-American (Mackenzie) and mother to Atlantean blue, is now, what? Aztec?” Nolan asked, before sarcastically evaluating, “Creativity by winning check.”
