Stephen King’s most recent novel, Fairy Tale, is getting a film adaptation of the same name from Jason Bourne director Paul Greengrass.
A new Stephen King film adaptation titled Fairy tale taps Jason Bourne director Paul Greengrass to direct. The film will be based on King’s novel of the same name which was released on September 6, 2022. The latest novel in King’s arsenal has already received a lot of buzz due to positive reviews.
Term reports that Greengrass will adapt the script for Fairy tale in addition to directing the film. In addition to writing and directing, Greengrass will also produce the film with Gregory Goodman, whose previous credits include Jason Bourne, Fantastic fourY X Men First generation. The film follows an epic fantasy story of a 17-year-old boy who inherits the keys to a world where good and evil battle each other. A full quote from King and Greengrass about the film, respectively, can be read below:
King: “Needless to say, I’m a huge fan of Paul Greengrass and I think he’s a wonderful choice for this film.”
Greengrass: “Fairy Tale is a great piece of work. A classic adventure story and also a haunting contemporary allegory.”
The novel is notable not only because it delves deeper into the fantasy genre than some of King’s earlier works, but also because it involves a significant amount of action. Because Greengrass is well-versed in putting together compelling action sequences, this may be one of the reasons Greengrass was chosen for this project over other directors, aside from the fact that King is a fan of his work. Viewers will have to keep following the details on how Fairy tale continues to join and who will be joining its cast in the coming months.
