Thunderbolts Star Teases The Team’s MCU Introduction

Thunderbolts’ David Harbor teases how Red Guardian and the rest of the team will come together in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Ray star David Harbor teases how the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s group of antiheroes and villains will come together in the upcoming team-up movie. The film was officially announced by Marvel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, and the studio later confirmed its team member roster at the D23 Expo. Ray will feature returning MCU actors Harbor as Red Guardian, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova/Black Widow, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/US Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.

With a release date of July 2024, Ray will be the final movie on the MCU’s Phase 5 movies and TV slate. However, Marvel has been bugging the Thunderbolts team for years. Louis-Dreyfus has made appearances on black widow Y The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. She’s already sent Yelena to kill Clint Barton/Hawkeye and recruited the American agent to her cause, making her the likely leader of the Thunderbolts, at least in the MCU. The comic version of the team was originally formed by Baron Zemo, who has not been announced for the film, and another iteration of the Thunderbolts became the Dark Avengers led by Norman Osborn following the Secret Invasion event.

Since the Ray The movie can’t just follow the same formula of the Avengers coming together, there will have to be some surprises in the movie. As the movie was only recently announced, details are still limited. However, Harbor was asked by comicbook.com How would the team be formed? Check out his response below:

That is one of the initial mysteries. I just made a joke about it being like Dungeons and Dragons where you’re in a tavern and it’s like there’s a dwarf drinking a beer and then there’s an elven figure there and we all get together and then there’s this ghost… it’s It’s not going to happen like that, I don’t think so.

But I think one of the mysteries of the movie is what their relationship is, and as you say, there’s a lot of exciting stuff as you wrap up the next phase in terms of what their part of the universe is. this random and chaotic way. So, you know, we can’t really say much right now, but it’s an exciting introduction of this team together again, that’s going to be a lot of fun.

The fun, as Harbor mentions, will likely come from the team’s clashing personalities. While most of the advertised members of the Ray have been reformed in some way, it remains a group of characters with morally dubious pasts. A team like this shouldn’t be able to work together, and the fun will come from seeing how they inevitably overcome that. While the premise of Ray is similar to suicide squadthere are key differences between the two.

For example, an advantage Ray It has more than suicide squad is that all the characters have already been introduced to the MCU and are known to the public. The film doesn’t have to get bogged down in exposition and can instead focus on making the moment the team gets together as fun and unique as possible. As Harbor suggests, the chaotic nature of all these characters coming together will be the draw of the film.
